I am a nationally registered, state licensed nutrition professional.  I have been practicing in the field of nutrition for over 20 years, specializing in eating disorders, bariatric nutrition, type II diabetes and weight-related issues in school-age children, adolescents and adults.  I am a Certified Intuitive Eating Specialist and my practice is weight inclusive.  

My clinical practice includes 8 years at Miami Children’s Hospital, nutritionist at the Aventura Children’s Center, consultant for the Eating Disorders Program at the Jewish Community Service and four years at the Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders in Coral Gables.  In addition, I have consulted at the Oliver-Pyatt Treatment Center for Eating Disorders in South Miami.  I was a professor at Florida International University in the department of Dietetics and Nutrition for 18 years, teaching Nutrition Counseling and directing the graduate Dietetic Internship Program.  I co-authored the textbook used in college curricula titled “Nutrition Counseling and Communication Skills” to train dietetics students in the art and science of nutrition counseling.  I am the Nutrition Expert for the online, recurring 6 week " Conscious Eating Program" as a segment in the "Aliveness Programs".

I maintain an active role in the nutrition community and have served as President of the Miami Dietetic Association, with several elected board positions on the Florida Dietetic Association.  I have provided numerous presentations and interviews locally, nationally,  and internationally, on the radio, TV, newspaper and print media on topics related to dieting, eating disorders and weight management.  I also participate in advocacy for prevention and education regarding eating disorders at the local and national levels and was the co-chairperson of the Miami Chapter of the Alliance for Eating Disorders.

Honors include Greater Miami Dietitian of the Year, Distinguished Dietitian, National Outstanding Dietetics Educator, American Dietetic Association and I was a peer reviewer for Journal of the American Dietetic Association. I currently enjoy an active private practice at Miami Counseling and Resource Center and specialize in weight management issues and in the treatment of children, women and men with eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorders and compulsive overeating.  I work closely as a member of a multidisciplinary eating disorder treatment team.
